The early days. Amanda is a former computer programmer, systems analyst and database designer. She joined ICL (now Fujitsu) as a technical support consultant and went on to establish her own IT consultancy business advising private and public sector clients on systems development, database design, implementation and integration projects, and outsourcing. She studied law in Manchester achieving a first class degree and won the Law Society national prize for outstanding achievement.
Legal career. Amanda completed her legal training at Masons (now Pinsent Masons) and joined Addleshaw Goddard in 2001 working predominantly on technology contracts, ecommerce matters and was the data protection lead for all clients of the Manchester office. She left the firm in 2004 to head the Technology and Data Unit at James Chapman & Co and was part of the Sport and Commercial group that merged with Brabners Chaffe Street in May 2006. Amanda set up lawmatix LLP with Lucy Inger on 22 January 2007. lawmatix LLP became lawmatix Ltd in February 2011.
Clients. Amanda has advised a diverse range of clients on privacy, data and technology matters including those in retail (such as pharmacy and mail order), national and international sports (including individuals, clubs and governing bodies), travel and leisure (such as automotive, airline and hotel sectors) and financial services (including banks, building societies and insurance companies).
